Problem updating windows xp

I tried every other possible solution offered and none worked. Download and run Update/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/Windows Update Agent30-x86I had to reboot one machine to get it to work but the rest worked without.
First, there's no guarantee that this trick will keep working and the loophole could be shut down.
I am sure you know what they are what its worth this worked for me. Hopefully this help somebody the same way as helped me.
I tried following Microsoft instructions to edit the registry. Link ID=100334 After installing, reboot and see if you can access Windows Updates.
I tried going in under control panel and turn the updates on but it will not allow me to do so. Could not rename the folder but just went to CP and disabled automatic updates then re-enabled them. I spent 1.5 hours with Microsoft and another 2 hours on the web trying to fix this XP update problem.
Also, I went through the security center as well but the system will not allow me to change it from off to on. Your amazing and brilliant solution had me fixed in less than 5 minutes.A few people told me that whenever they try to install SP3 in Windows XP, Windows shows following error message: The reason behind this problem is that the update package installs retail bits on retail builds and checked bits on checked builds.
